NME contents page

The "NME" is placed in large bold letters across the top of the page . This is so that this part of information is given straight out to the reader and to tell them what they are reading on this part of the page. The use of "NME THIS WEEK" is used through out each issue of this magazine, making this their catching slogan for this section of the page, the page that would summarize the whole contents of this magazine into one page for the audience to quickly read.
Making the title as bold as it is, is so that it can grab the readers attention before they start to read anything else on the page. They have done this through the colour scheme of using white on black, and red on black, making this part stand out from any other part on the page. The idea being that the magazine wants the reader to read this before any other part.
The layout of the page is some what split into categories such as "features". Doing so means that the readers can guide themselves around the page to find exactly what they want to know. Not having this would make the page incredibly hard to follow due to the amount of information that is needed to be put on here.
On this page they make sure to put the main stories and latest news in the more larger texts as this is what the readers/audience tend to want to know more about before buying.
The main image gives an idea of what the magazine is mainly featuring in this issue of magazine, meaning that if readers pick the magazine up, they can see this image and know mainly what this magazine is featuring without even needing to read any sentences.

Kerrang! Contents Page

The colour of this contents page matches the same to what the front cover uses too of this magazine. This magazine colour theme is used throughout the whole of Kerrang magazine because its seen as their unique selling point as no other magazine has a colour scheme like this. Also keeping the constant theme gives the reader audience a constant overall feel to the magazine itself. A point about the colors that are used for this page is that they are seen to be quite vibrant. This type of color may be seen to be more appealing to the younger age audience in which the magazine is trying to aim at. The main image here in the center here is used to give a type of indication to what one of the main features that the magazine is featuring in the issue.
The header of this page is to tell the reader what this page is used for, in this case the contents page for them to locate and find stories or other features that they may be interested in. The header is placed at the top of the page for a title layout being the biggest text on the page, and also being the most vibrant on the page, making it more eye catching so that readers know that this is standing out to indicate that this is the title.
The layout of this page is to be made as easy to follow so that readers are able to find what they are looking for, but also for readers to see other bits of information that is being put on display to them. This being things such as `print screens` of pages in the magazine. This is to some what give them a quick peek of some of the pages inside the magazine without even moving from this page. The information given is not written in large parts of texts, and instead written in small brief lines. This is so that the magazine is able to advertise whats in this magazine with out large amounts of effort and timing wasting reader large quantities of information.

Q magazine contents page

The layout of this set out pretty bold having the contents listed down the left hand side, with the main image on the right. This is a very basic type layout of the contents page, however the main image indicated with the number "104" shows the reader with more information of what this page would be about. The contents that is listed on the left only lists the main features such as interviews etc etc.
The images that are used relate both to certain pages that are inside the music magazine itself. This can passively tell the reader who and what this page would be about, without even reading anything on the contents page itself.
The fonts/colors that are used both work together. The use of the black text laid over the white back ground makes the text stand out very clearly. The colors that are used to underline this text (red) brings the readers eyes over to the text itself. This therefore makes these both work together positively and hence why they chose this.
Theme, the theme here is used throughout each of Q magazine's customized pages. This keeping their magazine theme original and easily recognized. Q magazine's audience would be able to tell just by the theme of the page that this belonged to Q magazine, rather than any other music magazine. The theme of a magazine tends to be original to each one, a type of selling point for their magazine.

NME Music magazine double page spread

The title of this image much like all double page spreads are set out largely so that people are able to see what the main topic of the double page spread is about. However there is a difference between this music magazine and other music magazines. This being that the title is partly covered up. This is something that many music magazine COVERS use. However as the title is the name of a famous "raper", part of the name is able to be covered as people can guess who the star is due to the name, and the image itself.

The image centered in the middle is different to what other music magazines do. Other magazines tend to place their image on the left side of the page. However with this, they have chosen to place the image in the center and then went onto placing the text around of the edges of this. This can explain that the text that is written is aimed around the image-Nick Minaj. This is pretty much the layout of the double page spread, the image being in the center with the text being laid around it. The texts that are written around the ages of the image are displayed in a column layout. This allowing more text to be displayed and written.

Fonts that are used do not express in such a large manor, but however it sits cleanly onto the background color (pink). The text type is used like this so that its not too fancy for the readers to read and gives a more of a theme to inform than to entertain.

Rolling Stones Double page spread

Rolling Stones music magazine

The title of this double page spread is used with the same font as the text below it. The title is used largely to indicate the topic in which the double page spread is about. However its not just the title that does this but also the image. The title is placed boldly, covering pretty much the whole page. This leaving no blanks and therefore keeps the picture interesting in every spot seen in the rule of thirds.

Layout of the double page spread here is used in paragraphs. This is so that more information can be used, but also gives more space as this is written in a vertical view, more than a horizontal view. The image is mainly placed on the left hand side of the page, this is done a lot with a wide range of products. This is done because readers read from left to right, therefore seeing the image first to understand what the text is about, more of who the text is about.

Images. The images used here is just one. Placed on the left of the page. This filling the whole side to leave no space but also to make it look big, bold and attractive. Doing this lets the readers know who or what the double page spread is about. Making this a very important part as it informs the reader of important information.

Bilboard Front Cover

The colors that are used for the front cover are used to be bright and bold. Attractive to the audience that it can grab the eye when on the shelves of stores selling it. The use of the colors of pink upon white helps bring the words out among each other. The use of the two colors can help indicate key features of the front cover, telling the reader the contents.

Once again like all music magazines the main image is displayed in the center of the page. This indicates the main person in the magazine. In this case its Lily Allen. Putting the image in the center is also found to give more room surrounding the image for other contents.

The fonts that are used in this case are used to match the theme of the front cover. Making it to have a more of a friendly feature. The font also is seen to be "informal", this giving a better appearance to the younger aged audience. The fonts are also mixed and used differently depending on the purpose of it as well.

Like most images they tend to cover the title partly. This making the image much larger for the audiences to view upon. Also they are able to do this due to their place with their audiences, making them so well known that they do not need to completely show their title, and that their audience knows this magazine very well.
